So, lets cut to the chase:

→ Can you or your marketing team update the website? - Yes

→ Can you create a landing page without the web guy? - Yes

→ Can you manage your tracking codes without your developer? -Yes

→ Can you add a button or call-to-action without calling IT? - Yes

→ Can you update your title, keywords, and meta descriptions as people's search habits change? - Yes

If you have all Yes's, you can stop reading. Congratulations, you have control of your website. If you said maybe, I don't know, or no. Keep reading.

Can you or your marketing team update the website?

Hopefully, the answer is yes. You or your marketing team must react quickly when there is an issue with your website.

We recently had a client who had a typo in their bio.  Instead of "integral part of the team" it read "interracial part of the team". Fortunately, the client knew how to edit the site, and as soon as the typo was found, the edit was made. The site was republished, and all was well. This took about 5 minutes form the time it caught to the fix.

Unfortunately, for many companies, simple edits take days. They have to notify IT or an outside web developer of the issue, get queued in a help desk, and hope the change is made quickly. If this is you and you don't want it to be, switched to our Studio WES editor or another drag and drop website editor. New software is making it easier than ever to take back control of your website.

Can you create a landing page without the web guy?

Again, we are looking for a YES. If you are using social media, email marketing, digital ads, blogs, and/or premium content to generate leads, you have to be able to build effective landing pages.

The biggest mistake we see... companies build out a great marketing campaign only to send engaged prospects to the company home page.

The companies see great "results" in terms of click-through and engagement, but they don't have any leads to show for it.

Typically, this is because the person running the campaign has control of the marketing software but not the website. It takes too long and too much money to build out a simple landing page.

If this sounds like you, you need to get control of your website and replatform. Again, we can move your website over to Studio WES, or you can check out other drag and drop website editing software.

Can you manage your tracking codes without your developer?

It seems like all marketing software requires a tracking code. And for good reason. Tracking codes allow you to get great reports. You can see how many people are visiting your website from a given campaign and how well they are converting.

Unfortunately, the task of installing these tracking codes is left to people disconnected from the marketing team. This often leads to bad information or no information. It can take weeks to get simple things like Hubspot tracking, Facebook pixels, Google Tag Manager, Call Rail, and other marketing software to report correct information back to you or the marketing team.

If you can't watch your reports and adjust your tracking in real-time, you don't have control of your marketing. Again, we can help, or you can research other drag and drop website editing software.

Can you add a button or call-to-action without calling IT?

This one is probably our biggest pet peeve. You just want a simple call-to-action. Hey, IT, can you add a button that says "SCHEDULE A CALL" on our services page? Hey, web guy, can you add a "CONTACT US" button? Three emails and one week later, you might get what you asked for.

It shouldn't be that hard. You should be able to experiment on you website with buttons, calls-to-action, and other conversion techniques. Marketing is all about experimenting and seeing what works. But, if you have to wait weeks instead of minutes, you can't do your job, and you should really consider replatfroming so you can take back control.

Can you update your title, keywords, meta descriptions as people's search habits change?

People in-charge of marketing know keywords and search phrases can change as quickly as food trends. That's why marketing must have control of editing titles, headers, and meta descriptions.

If you have to put in a request every time you want to revise a blog title, you are in trouble. If the CEO say's, "I want to start ranking for XYZ" and it has to pass through a developers hands, you're in trouble.

Web Education Services last words...

Marketing has to be agile. To be agile, you need to be able to swap photos, edit text, build simple pages from a template, revise keywords, and add buttons.

If you can't do these things, give us a call, {{content_library.global.phone.palm harbor office}}. Or schedule a video conference. And we can discuss the options you have to take back control of your website.
